Art and Fashion from DCSZ to UAL: Estelle T

Established in 2003, The University of the Arts London is Europe’s largest higher education institute dedicated to the study of fashion, art, design and the performing arts. UAL is ranked second in the world for Art and Design in the 2022 QS World University Rankings. UAL has world-class reputation, and it is also the first university, made up of 6 colleges and over 19,000 students all over the world.

"When I was in Year 9, about to study IGCSE, I began researching around which field I wanted to explore for the future. I got a chance to go to an art university summer camp, where I had the opportunity to try several pathways in the arts - including fashion, photography, movie editing, graphic design, fine arts and others. I eventually found that fashion is the way that I most enjoy expressing my creativity. The summer camp experience further motivated me within the IGCSE and IB Arts courses.
As I was certain that I wanted to focus more on the pathway of art, especially Fashion, during the university counselling process I was always intentional about my future options. I compared different universities in the UK, EU and the US, and I decided that University of the Arts London – Central Saint Martins is where I would like to go. The teaching style, artworks, and originality of their students’ was hugely attractive to me. Additionally, the well-known alumni network from Central Saint Martins have demonstrated their success in the field of fashion - not only very famous fashion designers but also fashion editors, styling, and PR specialists. All of this combined makes me feel like UAL Central Saint Martins will provide me valuable opportunities for my future, and is my ‘Best-Fit” university."

"To prepare for my applications, and eventually studying at UAL, I have done several internships and attended events as an ‘artist’ to gain experience. The study from IB Visual arts and guidance from Ms. Moreland have also supported me in making a robust portfolio of work."
