DCB Class of 2026 Students Secure Cambridge and Global University Offers

Dulwich College Beijing (DCB) is proud to announce our updated university offers for the Year 13 students. These most recent offers were made by universities from the United States and Canada, as well as courses in the United Kingdom and Asia. We are proud of our students who will continue to pursue their passions in a wide range of fields, including Aerospace Engineering, Biomedical Sciences, Computer Science, History, Music, Psychology, Sociology, Theatre and more. One student also received a conditional offer from the University of Cambridge for the Philosophy course.

Yifei shared her exhilaration upon receiving the news: 'I was in fact so nervous that I asked my friend to check it and tell me. Cambridge has been my dream school since Year 3 and even now I can't fully wrap my head around the fact that this is a reality.'
The University of Cambridge has a unique admissions process because of its residential Colleges and Supervisions system. When students apply to Cambridge, they actually are applying directly to one of its 29 undergraduate Colleges and their application is processed specifically by the admissions tutors for that College. Each College has its own hall of residence, traditions, and affiliated professors. After an initial screening, applicants are told whether they have made it to the interview round. These interviews, which may include a written assessment, are conversations with professors and are meant to assess an applicant's intellectual ability and academic potential. The most difficult part of these interviews is having the correct mindset: it is not about having the correct answers, but rather demonstrating that one has a flexible, agile mind and a willingness to be taught.

Dr. Cameron Pyke
Head of College
Students applying for interview-based courses were supported through interview guidance and mock interview sessions with our Head of College, Dr Cameron Pyke as well as teachers from Dulwich College in London. 'I received a lot of interview help from Dr Pyke,' Yifei recalled, 'in the form of mock interviews and feedback, and the school helped arrange more practice interviews with professors from other schools. This made me more confident going into the real admissions interview.'
A Cambridge alumnus himself, Dr Pyke met individually with every member of the Year 13 cohort in person within the first months of assuming his role. Throughout the application process, he ensured that students invited to interviews received thoughtful support. Reflecting on their achievements, he remarked, 'As somebody who was profoundly shaped by the teaching I received at Cambridge, I am truly delighted for Yifei and indeed for all our students. They have chosen their university courses very thoughtfully, and they thoroughly deserve their success.'

The importance of a global education lies in its ability to prepare students for the future by fostering intellectual flexibility, cultural understanding and resilience in the face of evolving global challenges. Our students’ achievements underscore the value of a DCB education in preparing students for life in university and beyond. When asked about the significance of a global education perspective like that offered at DCB, Class of 2019 alumna and Cambridge graduate Yi Wen Li emphasized its importance, noting that such an education equips individuals with essential skills to navigate the ever-changing modern landscape. 'A global education fosters adaptability and growth in the face of evolving job markets,' Yi Wen added.

Dr Gavin Hornbuckle
Director of University and Career Counselling
DCB Director of University and Career Counselling, Dr Gavin Hornbuckle, congratulated the entire cohort for the way they navigated this important season with resilience and a global mindset. 'To all our Year 13 students, we celebrate not only your outstanding offers, but also your maturity and determination throughout the process.'

Clare Anderson-Au
Head of Senior School
Head of Senior School, Ms Clare Anderson-Au, also expressed her pride in the students' commitment to their passions and aspirations: 'We are proud of our students not only for excelling in their fields, but, more importantly, for having the courage and determination to follow their passions.'
Dulwich College Beijing congratulates Yifei and all our Year 13 students on their achievements to date. And looks forward to celebrating more results as the students make steps to the next chapter of their educational journeys.
